Volleyball Recap: Mid-Pacific Institute Owls vs. Kamehameha Kapalama Warriors
After flying high against Hawaii Baptist Academy on Thursday, Mid-Pacific Institute came back down to earth. The Owls took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kamehameha Kapalama Warriors on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-1 defeat two weeks ago.
Mid-Pacific Institute might've lost, but they sure made Kamehameha Kapalama work for the win: two sets went to 30 points or more. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 31-29, 30-28, 25-18.
Khanzas Tuisamatatele paced Mid-Pacific Institute's offense, picking up 27 kills. Tuisamatatele got some help from Milan Scanlan and her 51 assists. Chlairyn Okuno controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Mid-Pacific Institute's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Kamehameha Kapalama, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That somehow still isn't as good as their 28-7 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mid-Pacific Institute will square off against rival Punahou at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Kamehameha Kapalama is set to face off against their familiar foe 'Iolani at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
