Basketball Game Preview: Sherman Bearcats vs. Lovejoy Leopards

Sherman hasn't had much luck against Lovejoy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Sherman Bearcats will challenge the Lovejoy Leopards at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Sherman is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 14th straight game on Friday. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-55 heartbreaker at the hands of Denison. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 497th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 172nd).

Meanwhile, Lovejoy waltzed into their matchup on Friday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. Everything went their way against the Lions as they made off with a 77-57 win. The Leopards pushed the score to 58-34 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions cut but never quite recovered from.

Lovejoy is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Sherman, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-23.

Sherman took a serious blow against Lovejoy when the teams last played back in January, falling 81-47. Can Sherman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
