Granite Bay is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Monday. They will face off against the Rocklin Thunder at 4:00 p.m. Granite Bay is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Granite Bay didn't have quite enough to beat Elk Grove and fell 4-3. The matchup marked the Grizzlies' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Granite Bay got a good showing from Drew Galbaugh, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Galbaugh has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Jace Bystrowski was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Rocklin was able to grind out a solid victory over Foothill on Saturday, taking the game 7-2.
Daniel Panteloglow looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Colby Pudge and Dylan Nusz did most of the damage at the plate: Pudge scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Nusz scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, Nusz posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Ethan Brown also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Granite Bay now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Rocklin, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Granite Bay has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rocklin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Granite Bay couldn't quite finish off Rocklin when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can Granite Bay avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
