Basketball Game Preview: Bennington Badgers vs. Platteview Trojans

The Bennington Badgers will head out on the road to square off against the Platteview Trojans at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Bennington is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.6 points per game this season.

Bennington's tournament run continued when they took on Gretna East on Monday. Bennington fell 61-50 to Gretna East. The match marked the Badgers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Bennington had strong showings from Austin Kaiser, who posted 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Gavin Olson, who had 16 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Kaiser's morning made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Zach, who put up six points.

Meanwhile, Platteview faced Lincoln Lutheran in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The game between Platteview and Lincoln Lutheran didn't end well, with Platteview falling 53-37. The Trojans' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Bennington now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Platteview, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.

Bennington couldn't quite finish off Platteview in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 and fell 57-54. Can Bennington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
