Baseball Recap: High Point Baptist Academy Drops Season-High Score on La Academia Charter

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask High Point Baptist Academy). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the La Academia Charter Leones a 25-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Eagles have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Logan Cone and Reagan Wodicka made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Cone tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Wodicka pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). At bat, Cone went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Wodicka got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and four runs.

In other batting news, Colton Swenson was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nolan Sandiford, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

High Point Baptist Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.

High Point Baptist Academy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for La Academia Charter, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
