Basketball Recap: Carmen Mcwilliams Key Part of a Team Effort in Cubs Win

Brenham hadn't done well against Magnolia West recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. It was close, but the Brenham Cubs capped 2024 with a 57-55 victory over the Magnolia West Mustangs. The Cubs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.

Brenham's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carmen Mcwilliams, who posted 12 points and three steals. Antyianna Lang was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 17 boards.

Brenham's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Magnolia West, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.

Brenham wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 29-28 victory against San Angelo Central on the 28th. As for Magnolia West, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-43 loss against Ponder on the 28th.
