Basketball Recap: West Columbus Comes Up Short

West Columbus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They took a blow against the East Columbus Gators, falling 63-14. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 601st, while the Gators are ranked 241st).

Dalijana'E Willis was West Columbus' leading scorer, having posted six points. Alaina Spencer held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

It was another big night for Malia Graham, who dropped a double-double with 28 points and 14 boards for East Columbus. Graham's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Malayah Hines was another key player, putting up 12 points along with seven assists and three steals.

West Columbus' loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for East Columbus, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4.

While West Columbus had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
