Basketball Game Preview: Bartram Trail Bears vs. Tocoi Creek Toros

Bartram Trail is on a eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Tocoi Creek is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bartram Trail Bears will host the Tocoi Creek Toros at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Tuesday, everything went Bartram Trail's way against Episcopal School of Jacksonville as Bartram Trail made off with a 56-33 victory. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Eagles are ranked 279th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bartram Trail to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alyssa Donohue, who posted 19 points and four steals. Donohue has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aubry Davis, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 16 points.

Bartram Trail smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Tocoi Creek's strategy against St. Augustine on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Tocoi Creek blew St. Augustine out of the water with a 73-30 final score. With the Toros ahead 52-18 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Tocoi Creek's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Bartram Trail, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
