Basketball Recap: Sheridan's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to 23

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Sheridan had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They breezed past the Lewis Cass Kings to the tune of 60-23. The Blackhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Sheridan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nova Cross led the charge by going 5-for-7 en route to 13 points and five boards. Cross is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games she's played. Kenzie Garner was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 13 points and nine assists.

Sheridan was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lewis Cass only racked up four assists.

Several Kings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mylie Sipe, who posted five points. Another player making a difference was Anna Hedrick, who put up six points.

The victory (which was Sheridan's 23rd in a row) raised their record to 25-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.9 points over those games. As for Lewis Cass, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-7.

Looking ahead, Sheridan will challenge Rensselaer Central at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rensselaer Central will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Sheridan surely won't give up without a fight. Lewis Cass does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
