Softball Recap: Gardner-South Wilmington Takes a Loss

Gardner-South Wilmington's last matchup with Clifton Central could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Tuesday. The Panthers lost 9-2 to the Comets. The Panthers have struggled against the Comets recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Kayla Scheuber was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Ella Mack was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Gardner-South Wilmington's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Clifton Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6-1 record this season.

Clifton Central will venture away from home to face off against Manteno at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Comets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Gardner-South Wilmington will be paying especially close attention to Clifton Central's game: after Clifton Central faces off against Manteno, they'll take on Gardner-South Wilmington again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
