Volleyball Recap: Murphy Falls Short of Saraland in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Murphy can now relate to. They came up short against the Saraland Spartans on Wednesday, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-8, 25-3.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Saraland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bryleigh Goff, who had four digs and four aces. That's the most aces Goff has posted over her last 13 contests. Another player making a difference was Taniyah Smith, who had 12 assists and three aces.

The defeat snapped Murphy's winning streak at four matches and leaves them with a 10-6 record. As for Saraland, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That somehow still isn't as good as their 32-7 record this season.

Murphy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against McAdory on the 23rd. As for Saraland, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Montgomery Academy on the 23rd.
