Volleyball Recap: Howell North Takes a Loss

If Howell North was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Troy-Buchanan on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fort Zumwalt West Jaguars on Tuesday. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Howell North started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-17, 25-13, 25-12.

Leading Fort Zumwalt West to victory were Jetta Jones and Carly Wolff. Jones had five digs and three aces, while Wolff had 13 digs and eight kills. That's the most digs Wolff has posted over her last nine matches. Maddie Moore also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

Howell North's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Fort Zumwalt West, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-3.

Howell North and Fort Zumwalt West should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. The Knights will square off against Warrenton at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (102 vs. 254). Meanwhile, Fort Zumwalt West (ranked 51st) will meet Fort Zumwalt South (ranked 268th) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
