Football Recap: Provo Bulldogs vs. Green Canyon Wolves

Provo took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Green Canyon Wolves by a score of 27-14.

Gehrig Orchard was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 259 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 82 yards. Those 82 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. A healthy portion of Orchard's aerial production (112 yards to be exact) went to Griffin Demartini, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Provo's defense and their five sacks. Teave Brown refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Provo got some further help from Brown: he picked up 1.5 sacks and made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

When it comes to explaining why Green Canyon lost, don't look at Hayden Schramm. Despite the final result, he picked up 139 receiving yards. Schramm's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 136 receiving yards dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Provo will face off against Crimson Cliffs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Green Canyon, they will square off against Springville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
