Baseball Preview: Horizon Hawks vs. Skyline Falcons

The Horizon Hawks will challenge the Skyline Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Horizon turned things around against Denver North on Monday. They never let the Vikings get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The Hawks not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6, 2024.

Parker Aaron made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Aaron was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with four RBI and one stolen base. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cooper Brennan, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run and three runs. Horizon is 2-1 when Brennan posts two or more runs, but 0-6 otherwise. Maxton Sosa was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave Wright a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run.

In other batting news, Matt Lanier was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Hufford, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Skyline kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Horizon's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Skyline, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
