Baseball Game Preview: Milton Red Hawks vs. Turner Trojans

The Milton Red Hawks will venture away from home to face off against the Turner Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Milton 2, Turner 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Milton proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by six) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Burlington 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Red Hawks have posted since May 10, 2024.

Milton got a great performance from Nathan Birkhimer as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Milton's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Fitzke, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Turner, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out East Troy 7-6.

Turner's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Milton, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Milton came out on top in a nail-biter against Turner in their previous meeting back in May of 2022, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
