Basketball Recap: Terre Haute North Vigo Comes Up Short

Terre Haute North Vigo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 56-48 to the Bloomington North Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Patriots of the 48-30 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Terre Haute North Vigo saw an underclassman step up: freshman Zanariae White went 11 for 21 to rack up 24 points along with five boards and three steals. That was a full 50% of Terre Haute North Vigo's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Makenna K Lawson, who had four points.

Bloomington North's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Robbennolt, who put up 20 points. The dominant performance gave Robbennolt a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Burton, who scored ten points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Terre Haute North Vigo's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Bloomington North, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-11.

Terre Haute North Vigo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 59-19 defeat against Bloomington South on the 7th. As for Bloomington North, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-40 win against Martinsville on the 7th.
