Basketball Recap: Winters Mill Takes a Loss

Winters Mill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 64-52 to the Glen Burnie Gophers. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Gophers are ranked 96th).

Despite the loss, Winters Mill saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Chase Siegel almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. Siegel is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Lukas Krebs, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Winters Mill's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Glen Burnie, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-7.

Looking ahead, Winters Mill will head out to face off against Century at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Winters Mill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season. As for Glen Burnie, they have already played their next match, a 46-29 victory against Chesapeake on the 20th.
