Baseball Recap: West Florida Baptist Academy Takes a Loss

If West Florida Baptist Academy was riding high fresh off their 12-0 takedown of Santa Rosa Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aletheia Christian Academy Lions on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Conquerors of the 16-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Evan Richardson put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off three hits. Richardson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Cruz Duncan was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Ethan Salter was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI.

West Florida Baptist Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. The victory was the third in a row for Aletheia Christian Academy, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Florida Baptist Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Santa Rosa Christian at 4:30 p.m. on March 24th. As for Aletheia Christian Academy, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Aletheia Christian Academy Lions face off against Central Jaguars at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Central's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Aletheia Christian Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
