Baseball Game Preview: Pueblo Central Wildcats vs. Pueblo County Hornets

Pueblo Central has won four straight games at home, while Pueblo County has won four straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Wildcats will welcome the Hornets at 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Pueblo Central's offense. They fell just short of Pueblo South by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since March 27th.

Meanwhile, Pueblo County had just enough and edged out Pueblo South 3-1 on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Colts: they've now won eight in a row.

Blake Swift made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Swift wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cohen Glenn, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Pueblo Central's loss dropped their record down to 12-8-1. As for Pueblo County, their victory bumped their record up to 18-2.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pueblo Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pueblo County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
