Softball Recap: Hoover Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Hoover won against Madera South on Friday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Patriots didn't even let the Fresno Warriors on the board, marking the Patriots' second-straight 11-0 shutout. The victory was nothing new for the Patriots as they're now sitting on six straight.

Hazel Martinez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Samantha Vasquez was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Monica Raumaker was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs.

Hoover hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests.

Hoover's record now sits at 10-5. As for Fresno, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hoover will welcome Roosevelt at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fresno, they will be playing at home against Torres at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Toros will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
