Basketball Game Preview: Lake George Lakers vs. Galway Golden Eagles

The Lake George Lakers will take on the Galway Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake George's defense has only allowed 28.6 points per game this season, so Galway's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Last Friday, Lake George didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Granville, but they still walked away with a 44-40 win. Given the Lakers' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while the Golden Horde are ranked 454th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lake George got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mykah Collier-Fisher out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. Collier-Fisher has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Madyson Brennan, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Lake George smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 27 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Galway hadn't done well against Duanesburg recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Galway enjoyed a cozy 37-22 win over Duanesburg.

Galway's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Lake George, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Lake George ended up a good deal behind Galway when the teams last played back in December of 2023, losing 44-28. Can Lake George avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
