Softball Game Preview: Lake of the Woods Bears vs. Pine River-Backus Tigers

The Lake of the Woods Bears will head out to take on the Pine River-Backus Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lake of the Woods will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Lake of the Woods took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Laporte, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bears came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats on Tuesday, sneaking past 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bears have posted since May 2, 2024.

Meanwhile, Pine River-Backus fell victim to Bagley and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Flyers.

The victory got Lake of the Woods back to even at 3-3. As for Pine River-Backus, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Lake of the Woods might still be hurting after the 15-6 loss they got from Pine River-Backus in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
