Basketball Recap: Ada Takes a Loss

On Saturday, the Ada Cougars were beaten by the Mount St. Mary Rockets 83-56. Even though they lost, the Cougars' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.2 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Despite the loss, Ada saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Charles Vest went 6 of 7 en route to 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vest has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caron Richardson, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 17 points.

Even though they lost, Ada smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive games.

Ada's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Mount St. Mary, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ada will face off against McAlester at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount St. Mary has already played their next contest (against Harrah), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
