Basketball Recap: Monroe City Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Monroe City got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They strolled past the Clark County Indians with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 46-29. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Indians are ranked 422nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Monroe City's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.3 points per game. As for Clark County, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.

Monroe City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 57-27 loss against Quincy Notre Dame on the 1st. As for Clark County, they will take on Mendon Unity at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
