Hernandez Came Up Big in Burbank's 27-7 Win
Starting off the list is Burbank's Keven Hernandez, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Hernandez rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also threw for 162 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes.
Jefferson had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Hernandez it was a similar story. Hernandez threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns while completing 92.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown the last time he and the Mustangs duked it out back in October of 2023.

Underclassman Mivieon Franklin Ross Major Player in Sam Houston Victory
It was an underclassman who stole the show on Saturday as Mivieon Franklin Ross came into the match on a mission. He did his part (and then some), rushing for 135 yards on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 55 yards and a touchdown for the 'W'.
The win got Sam Houston back to even at 3-3. Franklin Ross and Sam Houston will challenge Lanier at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Israel Zapata Makes It Two for Burbank
The second Burbank player making an appearance here is Israel Zapata, and for good reason. He picked up 117 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 62 yards.
Zapata must have Jefferson's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. When Zapata last faced the Mustangs back in October of 2023, he picked up 94 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

A Season-Best Performance from Ryan Vasquez Leads Burbank over Jefferson
Burbank was led to victory by Ryan Vasquez, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Vasquez wasn't messing around, making eight total tackles (4.0 for loss). The match was his sixth straight with five or more total tackles dating back to last season.
Vasquez and Burbank will challenge Highlands at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last time Vasquez took on the Owls, he made nine total tackles (4.0 for loss). Can he match (or beat) that performance?
