Softball Game Preview: Ore City Rebels vs. Waskom Wildcats

For the second straight game, Ore City will face off against Waskom. The Rebels will welcome the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Ore City has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

While Ore City's win against Waskom wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rebels narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Wildcats 13-12. The Rebels haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Jordan Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Johnson was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Kayla Peckham and Brooke Byrd did most of the damage at the plate: Peckham went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Byrd scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. Those four RBI gave Peckham a new career-high. Carissa Crane was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Ore City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waskom only managed five hits.

Waskom dropped their record down to 6-15 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Ore City, their victory bumped their record up to 6-15-1.
