Recap: Grafton Clippers vs. Lafayette Rams
It was a good run, but the Grafton Clippers unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 54-33 defeat at the hands of Lafayette. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Grafton has scored all season.
Several Clippers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alonni Wells, who scored 15 points along with two steals and two blocks. Wells is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Taylor Ragland, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and four steals.
It was another big night for Dynasti Pierce, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 16 rebounds for Lafayette. Pierce also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. MaKayla Keys was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five steals.
Grafton's loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 15-2. As for Lafayette, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grafton will take on the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Warhill is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Lafayette, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Islanders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Virginia (Poquoson is ranked 164th, while the Rams are ranked 173rd).
