Basketball Recap: Southland Christian Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Southland Christian entered their contest against Central Pointe Christian Academy on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Southland Christian FLAMES fell 66-53 to the Central Pointe Christian Academy CPCA. The matchup marked the FLAMES's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Southland Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sebastian Rivera went 8 of 19 en route to 22 points. The contest was Rivera's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Carlos Escalera Jr. was another key player, putting up 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Southland Christian's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-3. As for Central Pointe Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southland Christian will face off against IMG Academy Silver at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southland Christian is facing IMG Academy Silver at the right time seeing as IMG Academy Silver is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
