Basketball Recap: Gillion Academy's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

The Gillion Academy Lions ended up a good deal behind the Prolific Prep Crew on Saturday and lost 75-60. The loss was the Lions' first of the season.

When it comes to explaining why Gillion Academy lost, don't look at Marcis Ponder. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 20 points and 16 boards. Ponder's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Willie Burnett Iii, who posted 12 points and three steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Gillion Academy fell to 4-1. As for Prolific Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Coming up, Gillion Academy will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Springdale Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Prolific Prep, they will take on Sports Leadership & Management in a tournament on Saturday.
