Volleyball Recap: Lufkin's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

It was a good run, but Lufkin unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Tatum Eagles by a score of 2-1. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2022.

Lufkin started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 13-25, 25-20, 25-16.

Lufkin's defeat dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Tatum, their win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3.

Lufkin and Tatum should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Panthers will face off against Jacksonville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (134 vs. 507). Meanwhile, Tatum (ranked 87th) will meet Henderson (ranked 390th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
