Football Recap: Woodland Christian Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Oliver Holleman and Isaiah Hunt

After flying high against Woodland last Friday, Woodland Christian came back down to earth. The Cardinals fell just short of the St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs by a score of 43-41 on Saturday. The Cardinals gained 118 more yards on the day, but it was the Mustangs that made the best use of them.

Woodland Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Isaiah Hunt and Oliver Holleman. Hunt threw for 433 yards and five touchdowns, while Holleman gained 193 total yards and three touchdowns.

Leading St. Vincent de Paul to victory were Mason Caturegli and Gabe Casanovas. Caturegli gained 190 total yards and five touchdowns, while Casanovas threw for 206 yards and three TDs while completing 86.7% of his passes. What's more, Casanovas racked up 166 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

Woodland Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodland Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pioneer at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th. As for St. Vincent de Paul, they will venture away from home to take on American Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
