Softball Game Preview: St. Helens Lions vs. Seaside Seagulls

For the second straight game, St. Helens will face off against Seaside. The Lions will challenge the Seagulls at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Helens will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

St. Helens had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Seaside on Tuesday. The Lions blew past the Seagulls 9-1. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Eme Curaming made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addy Ellis, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Halli Heys, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

St. Helens is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Seaside, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-18.
