Softball Game Preview: Phillips Academy Big Blue vs. Austin Prep Cougars

The Phillips Academy Big Blue will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Austin Prep Cougars at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Wednesday, Phillips Academy didn't have quite enough to beat St. Paul's and fell 7-5. The Big Blue have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Phillips Exeter Academy hit Austin Prep with a five-run third inning last Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cougars fell just short of the Lions by a score of 11-10. On the bright side, the ten- run effort marked the Cougars' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Phillips Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Austin Prep, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Phillips Academy skirted past Austin Prep 9-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2019. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Big Blue since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
