Football Recap: Millikan Comes Up Short

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Millikan's offense. They were dealt a 42-0 loss at the hands of the Downey Vikings on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Vikings are ranked 26th).

Downey found their leader in sophomore Madeline Garcia, who threw for 325 yards and four TDs while picking up 13.5 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 41 yards and one touchdown. Those 325 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Garcia. Chloe Cotton was in the mix too, providing Downey with two scores.

Having lost for the first time this season, Millikan fell to 2-1. As for Downey, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-3.

Millikan didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 34-0 defeat against Huntington Beach on the 21st. As for Downey, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 54-0 victory against JW North on the 23rd.
