Baseball Recap: Colfax Comes Up Short

Colfax was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Elk Mound Mounders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mounders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 back in April.

Colfax saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Bailey, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Rob Holmen, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Colfax's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Elk Mound, the win keeps they at an undefeated 13-0.

Looking ahead, Colfax will head out on the road to take on Elmwood/Plum City at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Elk Mound, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Prescott at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Mounders have won 11 straight at home dating back to last season, while the Cardinals won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
