Baseball Game Preview: Lawrenceville Indians vs. Red Hill Salukis

The Lawrenceville Indians will venture away from home to take on the Red Hill Salukis at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lawrenceville is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

On Wednesday, Lawrenceville came up short against South Knox and fell 8-5.

Lawrenceville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Neilan Bickers, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Red Hill). They blew past Martinsville 21-1 on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Salukis, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Carter Davis and Jaxon Kiser did most of the damage at the plate: Davis went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Kiser went 2-for-5 with four RBI and one run. That's the most hits Kiser has posted since back in March. Hunter Shick also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Red Hill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Red Hill is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Lawrenceville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Lawrenceville took their victory against Red Hill in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
