Softball Preview: Union City Golden Tornadoes vs. South Fulton Red Devils
The Union City Golden Tornadoes will head out on the road to square off against the South Fulton Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Union City will be strutting in after a win while South Fulton will be coming in after a defeat.
Union City is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since March 26, 2024 on Wednesday. They came out on top against Dresden by a score of 3-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).
Meanwhile, South Fulton came up short against McKenzie on Tuesday and fell 5-2. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
South Fulton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Faulkner, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Union City is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for South Fulton, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Union City took their victory against South Fulton when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 14-3 score.
