Basketball Recap: Miller Place Takes a Loss

Miller Place was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 53-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hampton Bays Baymen. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-45 back in December of 2024.

Defeat or not, Miller Place got some senior leadership from Brooke Callaghan and Ava Zicchinelli. Callaghan posted ten points and seven boards, while Zicchinelli went 5 of 12 on her way to 12 points. That's the most points Callaghan has posted since back in February of 2024.

Miller Place's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Hampton Bays, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-1.

Miller Place has already played their next game (against Sayville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Hampton Bays will host Kings Park at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
