Basketball Game Preview: Abington Galloping Ghosts vs. Upper Moreland Bears

The Abington Galloping Ghosts will face off against the Upper Moreland Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Abington knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Upper Moreland likes a good challenge.

Abington took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They strolled past Quakertown with points to spare, taking the game 76-59. Given the Galloping Ghosts' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Panthers are ranked 497th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Upper Moreland). They breezed by Lower Moreland to the tune of 74-35 on Tuesday. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 23 points or more this season.

Upper Moreland's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Abington, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Abington didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Upper Moreland in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 56-52 victory.
