Basketball Game Preview: Canyon Cowboys vs. Valencia Vikings

Canyon hasn't had much luck against Valencia recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Canyon Cowboys will host the Valencia Vikings at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Canyon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games.

Canyon saw some tournament action on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 94-80 win over Los Altos.

Meanwhile, Valencia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 61-45 to Arcadia. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 433rd, while the Apaches are ranked 194th).

Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.0 points per game. As for Valencia, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.

Canyon might still be hurting after the 65-39 defeat they got from Valencia in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Canyon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
