Baseball Recap: Aurora Christian Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Aurora Christian had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged out the Somonauk Bobcats 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since April 9th.

Zach Zappia tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Aurora Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Niedzwiecki, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Niedzwiecki has posted since back in March.

Aurora Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win got Aurora Christian back to even at 13-13. As for Somonauk, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aurora Christian will square off against Lisle at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.79 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Somonauk, they will head out on the road to square off against Hall at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
