Football Recap: Archbishop Mitty Beats St. Ignatius College Preparatory for Their Third Straight Win

Archbishop Mitty hadn't done well against St. Ignatius College Preparatory recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Monarchs strolled past the Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 37-23. The game was the first time the Monarchs have beaten the Wildcats on their field since October 8, 2016.

Lazaro Faraj-Washington had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 227 yards and three scores. Faraj-Washington is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 123 every time he's taken the field this season. Kai Sniffen was in the mix as well, providing Archbishop Mitty with two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Archbishop Mitty was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 249 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Archbishop Mitty didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Grant Siripoke, Caden Kelly, and Sniffen picked up one apiece. Sniffen got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win (which was Archbishop Mitty's third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.0 points over those games. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
