Softball Game Preview: Russell Red Devils vs. Fleming County Panthers

The Russell Red Devils will face off against the Fleming County Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Russell has given up an average of 9.9 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Russell fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Symmes Valley on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 12-8 to the Vikings. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ava Howard was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Bella Hall was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Fleming County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Rowan County, falling 11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered since March 24th.

Fleming County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Russell, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.

Russell couldn't quite finish off Fleming County when the teams last played back in March of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
