Recap: Mt. Zion Bulldogs vs. McDonough Warhawks
The Mt. Zion Bulldogs lost against the McDonough Warhawks back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Mt. Zion was beaten by McDonough 79-37. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mt. Zion has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Mt. Zion lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ja'Shy Mackey. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points. Devante Burgest was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McDonough to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keenan Gray, who scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The contest was Gray's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion Greene, who scored 16 points along with six steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Mt. Zion and nudges their season record down to 3-11. As for McDonough, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with that victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Mt. Zion will take on Luella at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Luella is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for McDonough, they will head out on the road to face off against Woodland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Woodland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while McDonough is ranked ninth).
