Basketball Game Preview: Burke Bulldogs vs. Sissonville Indians

Two dominant guards in Nathaya Phoenix and Kynadee Britton are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Burke Bulldogs and the Sissonville Indians will face off at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Burke is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

On Friday, Burke earned a 50-42 victory over Halls. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 75th in South Carolina, while the Tigers are ranked 344th in Tennessee), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Burke found their leader in freshman Phoenix, who went 7 for 13 on her way to 19 points and six rebounds. Phoenix has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Bryanna Graham was another key player, putting up five points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sissonville). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Phoenix Academy 81-33. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Burke better keep an eye on Britton. She was instrumental in Sissonville's win, going 6 of 9 from beyond the arc on her way to 31 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makaela Ullman, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 13 points in addition to eight assists and eight boards.

Sissonville's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Burke, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
