Baseball Recap: Lathrop Triumphs

Lathrop won the last time they faced Johansen and things went their way on Thursday too. The Spartans skirted past the Vikings 7-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Jaicob Ewing was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Lathrop's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-9 when he doesn't). Elijah McAllister was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI.

Lathrop's record now sits at 6-10. As for Johansen, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lathrop will welcome Livingston at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.92 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Johansen, they will host Central Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
