Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mallard Creek). Everything went their way against the Butler Bulldogs on Friday as they made off with a 44-22 win. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Mallard Creek found their leader in sophomore Xavier Edmond, who rushed for 163 yards and two TDs on only nine carries. Those 163 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Edmond. Another player making a difference was Cailen Napier, who threw for 285 yards and one touchdown while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt.

Mallard Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 258 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Mallard Creek didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Zaire Izien and Kyle Crump.

Despite the loss, Butler still got an impressive performance from DeMaurion Thomas-Wright, who rushed for 143 yards and one score while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Thomas-Wright was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards.

Mallard Creek's record now sits at 6-3. As for Butler, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Mallard Creek wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 31-0 win against Chambers on the 30th. As for Butler, they have also already played their next contest, a 41-7 loss against Independence on the 30th.
