Football Game Preview: Troup County Tigers vs. Spalding Jaguars + Official Tickets

The Troup County Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Spalding Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Troup County's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

If Troup County beats Spalding with 38 points on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Tigers enjoyed a cozy 38-24 victory over LaGrange on Friday. The Tigers pushed the score to 35-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Grangers cut but never quite recovered from.

Garrison Edwards had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 119 yards and one score on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 129 yards and a pair of TDs. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 110 rushing yards. Trent Hodo helped out on the ground, rushing for 80 yards and a rushing touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Troup County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 299 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards in 15 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Spalding fell victim to Mary Persons and their airtight defense on Friday. They lost 26-0 to the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 240th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 116th).

Troup County pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Spalding, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Thursday's game might be decided in the trenches. Troup County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 266.2 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Spalding, though, as they've been averaging only 65.6 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?

Troup County took their victory against Spalding in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 37-14 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
