Recap: New Smyrna Beach Barracudas vs. Bayshore Christian Faith Warriors
The New Smyrna Beach Barracudas were the 77-35 winner over the Bayshore Christian Faith Warriors when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. New Smyrna Beach opened the new year with a less-than-successful 57-53 defeat to they on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as they came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while Bayshore Christian is ranked 546th).
New Smyrna Beach lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lukas Parschauer, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Parschauer scored a full 32.1% of New Smyrna Beach's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Josh Reik was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bayshore Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jace Jreisat, who scored 23 points. The contest was Jreisat's 15th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tylan Lewis, who scored 18 points.
This is the second loss in a row for New Smyrna Beach and nudges their season record down to 10-3. As for Bayshore Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11.
New Smyrna Beach will head out on the road to face off against Anclote at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Anclote is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Bayshore Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Jefferson at 5:00 p.m. Jefferson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.8 points per game.
