Softball Recap: Commerce Comes Up Short

Commerce came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 26-20 to the Putnam Vo-Tech Beavers. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Beavers earlier this season, when they won 37-25.

Nylah Santa made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Genevieve Conus-Koffman, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Commerce now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Putnam Vo-Tech, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3.

The future could be bright for both Commerce and Putnam Vo-Tech: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Raiders will look to extend Mount Everett Regional's three-game losing streak when they meet at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Putnam Vo-Tech will try to hand Westfield Technical Academy their third-straight loss when the two meet at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
